Suppose you are using EDITOR You type ----------------------------- / =======> that's the EDITOR prompt /:help HELLO <RETURN> =======> Directly to HELLO SYNTAX /:help HELLO PARMS <RETURN> =======> Directly to HELLO PARAMETERS /:help HELLO OPERATION <RETURN> =======> Directly to HELLO OPERATION /:help HELLO EXAMPLE <RETURN> =======> Directly to HELLO EXAMPLE Watch out! These take you directly to the entry you want -- and right back out again! And they zip by very quickly. Typing help HELLO PARMS takes you to the parameter definitions for HELLO and then rolls right through them. Here's where <CTRL> S (to freeze) and <CTRL> Q (to unfreeze) are really useful. Watch out! When the entry has rolled by, HELP will immediately return you to the program you were working with (EDITOR in our example). If you want to get into HELP and stay there, type HELP <RETURN>. The HELP dictionary will appear and you can type the COMMANDNAME (and KEYWORD if you want) and stay in HELP until you type E to return to the EDITOR program. ...Please press <RETURN> Back to Main Index
